11000 Excelsior Blvd
While you may think of it as an ice arena, the Hopkins Pavilion, located at 11000 Excelsior Blvd, is used for an incredible array of activities throughout the year. Its unique architecture allows it to serve as a dry floor, turf, and ice facility depending on the season.
During the summer, organizations or individuals may rent the dry floor space for large group picnics, inline skating, birthday parties and company functions.
During the spring, the Pavilion turf is available for indoor soccer, lacrosse, rugby, baseball and softball practices, and parties. The Pavilion’s indoor turf provides the sports enthusiast a place to warm up prior to the summer season while ignoring the outdoor climate.
Fall and Winter
During the fall and winter months, the Pavilion is available for ice rental and open ice skating.
Over 2,500 hours a year are rented to groups for hockey (ice and inline), soccer, lacrosse, rugby and baseball. The Pavilion also has great community rooms available for rental year-round for meetings, activities, parties, and other events, accomodating up to 100 people.
The Hopkins Pavilion was built by the City of Hopkins in 1990 to accommodate the growing recreational needs of the community. In 2003 the City of Hopkins was able to finish an additional 4500 square feet of space in the second level, the results of a partnership between the City of Hopkins and the Hopkins School District. Under this arrangement, the City leases classroom space to the Hopkins Alternative Program. “The partnership has worked out great and is a good use of space during an off-peak time of day” said Don Olson, Pavilion manager.
Most recently, new lighting was installed to illuminate the arena surface and save energy.
An incredible facility and unique partnerships make the Hopkins Pavilion a Point of Interest.
