Bill Beard
President, The Beard Group
"The City of Hopkins holds a special place in my heart as well as The Beard Group Inc.’s project portfolio. All of us here will be forever grateful for the “partnering” opportunities that Hopkins’s leadership extended us in the redevelopment of downtown, and its neighboring business and residential areas.
"We started the Beard Group with a belief that relationships are as (and maybe even more) important to a successful project as brick and mortar. Our work with Hopkins validated that belief. We’ve watched each other grow and fostered each other’s dreams. I guess you’d say that vitality is contagious and we were blessed to be exposed to Hopkins’s revitalization. Home is where you start out from and Hopkins has always been home to the Beard Group Inc."
Auntie M's
Auntie M's is an antique store located on Mainstreet.
Marlene Hunkins
Owner, Auntie M's
"I started my business over six years ago in Hopkins because it's very close to a large population yet feels like a small town. The downtown's historic feel and unique Mainstreet lend themselves well to the type of business I'm in—an antiques and collectibles store—yet it is in the metro area.
"I like the fact that many businesses are independently-owned. When people travel they sometimes feel like they see the same chain stores. In Hopkins the unique businesses and variety bring a lot of different people to town. It's possible to spend a whole day or weekend shopping, eating, and taking in a play or a movie.
"I think there is great opportunity for growth in Hopkins given the wide variety of space. I started with 600 square feet and quickly grew to over 5000 square feet yet I only had to move one block."
