East End Redevelopment

A facelift for east Hopkins

In 2003 the City of Hopkins adopted a redevelopment plan for the east end of Hopkins (Highway 169 to Blake Road; Excelsior Boulevard to Highway 7) that called for significant changes in land use and density. The uses envisioned for this area include commercial, office and residential (high and medium density). There will be an emphasis on transit-friendly development along the Southwest Transit Corridor that runs though the redevelopment area.

This new sign is part of the major improvements to Excelsior Boulevard that were completed in 2006

The area is primed for these major changes and has many factors in its favor including the Excelsior Crossings office development, the recently completed Excelsior Boulevard improvements, and incredible amenities such as Minnehaha Creek and strong recreational trail connections.
